Looking for the Typical Andalusian Village? Frigiliana is for you.

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

Yesterday we went to Frigiliana, a little village close to Nerja, in the Axarquia.

When you went to Frigiliana, you feel the silence and beauty of this white village on the Costa del Sol.  One of the most curious things is there are a lot of germans in Frigiliana. Germans have opened shops, pubs, restaurants…

Frigiliana offers a lot fantastic views, and in this village you can find a a lot of shops where buy typical and unfamiliar things: olive oil, honey, sweet wine, flamenco dresses, but you can find tarot cards or lamps with pumpkin shape too!

Feria del centro

Feria del centro

Malaga is offering these days its best touristic attraction. In the pic on the left a view of the main street, Calle Larios, garnished and ready to receive all visitors to the fair. If you wish to share a wine with friends dancing and tasting the famous ‘tapas‘, no doubt, the Feria del Centro is the best place. La feria del Centro is best visited from 14p.m. to 18p.m. Do not expect to find any shop or bank opened after midday.

In the next picture, the typical fair clothing.

Not just beaches and sitting in the sun

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Visiting La Costa del Sol offers multiple choices from sitting in the sun nearby the Chiringuito to tourist routes along the inside villages. One of most beautiful of these villages is Yunquera. It is situated about 60 kilometers from Malaga and from Marbella. In the way to Ronda and in the heart of Sierra de las Nieves. A nice trip that really worths for its nice sights over La Costa del Sol and ancient morisques buildings, for example, la Torre Vigía.

Visit Sierra de las Nieves for an overview about the tourist development plans for this area.

Torre del Mar

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Costa del Sol in one of the most known areas of Spain.  When someone hears Costa del Sol, people think in Torremolinos, Marbella, Benalmadena, but in Malaga, there are another good areas, where you can find peace, relax, uncrowned beaches and cheap restaurants, we ate yesterday for 8 € per person, one of this fantastic areas is Torre del Mar.

Torre del Mar is beetween Rincon de la Victoria and Nerja.

The Cathedral of Malaga

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

The cathedral of Malaga was built between 1528 and 1764.  Located in the center of the City, next to the Alcazaba de Malaga or the Roman Theather.

This monument is called “La Manquita”, (Litlte one armed woman) because one of its tower is not finished. There are two possible reasons for this, the money to complete the tower was used to help in American Revolutionary War or to finish a road in Antequera and Velez Malaga.

The interior has influences of the Renaissance and baroque styles.

Carranque swimming-pool in Malaga Andalusia

Carranque swimming-pool in Malaga Andalusia

Carranque is a nice place to swim outdoor and practise many others sports. It has a 50mts swimming-pool. There’s an indoor swimming-pool as well but is closed in summer months.

Personally, I recommend to attend from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. where most of andalusian are in the “siesta“. You will have nearly all the lanes empty just for you. Do not forget solar protection. You are in the “Costa del Sol“!!!
